Fall Sweepstakes!! The sweepstakes was held on November 30, 2013 and was a great success! We gave away $50,000.00 to 13 grateful winners, and made over $38,000 for the school. These monies stay right here at Bishop Ludden, and will enable us to continue to improve our school and help our students. Many thanks to the committee whose members included: Nancy Bush Eron '78, Carl Masterpole '82, Ann Dougherty Rooney '81, Dan Gilheney '80, Rob Ganley '70, Kevin Walker, Maria Walsh, Juanita Williams, Richie Collins, Kathleen Westers, and members of the Commission who gave their expert opinions and ideas. Also thanks to all the volunteeers...too many to name individually, but you know who you are! If anyone is interested in volunteering with us next year, please call the school and get in on the fun! We are looking for more volunteers to work the actual day, as well as sub-committee members to gather door prizes and help to make the Fall Sweepstakes a premier event in our community!
Our Lady of Guadalupe Visits Bishop Ludden
Ashley Gussman kneels before the Image
A day of prayer was held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 here at school. The traveling Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of four that have been blessed by the Bishop of Mexico City. It began its journey 13 years ago in Mexico City. The purpose of the traveling Image is to visit Catholic schools and parishes around the world for the New Evangelization. The traveling Image has been called MIRACULOUS because miracles have occurred after veneration and prayer. Pope John Paul II had a great devotion to the Image. He was drawn to it during his visit to Guadalupe saying "Her face is filled with kindness and simplicity."
Guests, students, faculty, and staff were invited to venerate before the Image. Dominick Melara, an eighth grader, said he didn't know what to expect. "I felt closer to God than I have ever felt as I knelt before the Image. It was pretty amazing!"
