Latin I/II/III
Course Description
Latin I
This course is for the student who has previous experience in foreign language and wishes to further his/her language skills. It strives to teach syntax, grammar and vocabulary skills along with introduction to the classical culture with emphasis on mythology. Prerequisite: Successful completion of two years of high school foreign language course and/or approval of the Language Department.
Latin II/III
This course is for the student who wishes to enhance his/her Latin language and cultural background. It will continue the development of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary skills. The reading of Latin texts including Caesar, Cicero, and selected Latin poetry make up the bulk of the course. Each student will complete a research paper on some aspect of Roman Culture each semester. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Latin I or approval of the Language Department.
